There is no crowd locating effect. I don't see how this should locate your pet or your child. It does not connect to the Apple or Android infrastructure for locating items. Someone would have to run that same app (the app which does not detect the item that was delivered.).
I changed the battery since the item came apart into 4 pieces when pulling out the plastic contact. I would never believe this item has a Xiaomi license. I ordered 6, tried two and both failed even with the limited functionality which may be to make the item beep using software so you can find your keys.
